Why I Made This

I created noplastic.guide first and foremost for myself. I was already deep into this research and needed a more organized way to track everything — the scattered Apple Notes I had were becoming a mess. It started as a personal project to help me make better choices for my own health and for the planet.

As the project grew, I realized others might find it useful too. If I was already spending hours hunting down plastic-free alternatives, it made sense to share that work with anyone else on the same journey.

Finally, I wanted to help the brands making a real effort. By highlighting companies reducing plastic use, I hope to create market incentives — encouraging even more alternatives in the future.

How I Curate Listings

I prioritize brands and products that offer genuinely plastic-free or meaningfully plastic-reduced alternatives.

The bar for inclusion depends on the category — in areas like kitchenware, where fully plastic-free options are common, standards are high. In categories like tech, where plastic-free options are rare, I highlight useful alternatives even when some plastic remains.

Inclusion is based on the actual materials used, not on marketing claims — and every listing is clearly labeled so you can browse based on your own needs.

See more details in our contribution guidelines for information on how brands are selected for inclusion.
